Pastel Pallet at Fawsley Hall, 19th August 2012

Wild Orchid has worked with so many Brides in creating their perfect wedding flowers.  We have styled beautiful venues both locally and nationally more than one time.  It’s always exciting to meet a Bride and Groom who are holding their wedding day at a venue we haven’t worked our magic with!  This is what happened when I met with Harriet, James and her family to discuss her beautiful pastel pallet of large blooms for her wedding to be held at the gorgeous Fawsley Hall, Northamptonshire.

Harriet wanted soft and delicate with a touch of shabby chic.  Using large headed blooms including hydrangea, peach avalanche roses, scabious, astilbe and spray roses.  We just love the colour and texture of all the flowers brought together.  We also wrapped many rose heads with lace to and added pearls within the flower heads.  Harriets’ bridal bouquet was beautifully finished with lace and a beautiful vintage brooch.  It’s was just divine!

Knightly Court at Fawsley Hall is an absolutely stunning reception venue.  Floor to ceiling mirrors designed with a mix of contemporary and modern vintage chic.  A glorious day all round.

Harriet looked absolutely beautiful and along with 8 bridesmaids and an adorable flowergirl the colours and styles Harriet chose worked wonderfully with her flower choice.

A Parisienne Love Affair, Laura & Alan – 6th July 2012

When I first met with Laura and Alan in 2011, I had no idea of the extent of flower designs they both wanted.  In a nutshell, the wedding was being planned and created around the colours and style of their flowers.  The invitations, the favours, the chairs….everything.  I was so excited to hear the news they had chosen me and my team to create their dreams.

Laura & Alan’s love for Paris was their inspiration for all the designs.  The amazing, jaw dropping Ian Stuart Bridal Gown, the beautiful Jim Hjelm Bridesmaid dress and the dapper black dinner suits just blended perfectly.  Its was our job to ensure their creative and romantic vision was translated through flower design.  With the help of mood boards and mock-ups Laura and Alan started to get a real feel for what their gorgeous flower designs will bring to the most important day of their lives.

We worked with over 3000 stems of flowers and only used a small amount of foliage in the pedestal displays which was overtaken by beautiful blousy blooms!  A mixture of roses including David Austin ‘Patience’ roses, peony (this was the last wedding we created wedding flowers for as they had come to the end of their season), Hydrangea and Sweet Pea.  We provided bridal flowers throughout, ceremony flowers, escort table, reception flowers as well as decorating the ornate fireplaces, window tables, drinks tables and not forgetting the stunning cake created by Peggy Porschen, London.  The flower decorations worked beautifully against the surroundings of Wrest Park Mansion, Silsoe and was the ideal venue for Laura & Alan’s romantic Parisienne styled wedding day.

It was such a pleasure to be involved from the beginning of their wedding day plans and we were all close to tears once we finished and placed everything for the Bride & Groom, parents and guests to enjoy.

From Paris….with Love xx

Rosemary & Nick were married on 14th July at St Mary The Virgin Church, Great Brickhill, Buckinghamshire, followed by a marquee reception at the beautiful Paris House, Woburn.

I first had the pleasure in meeting Rosie when she returned to the UK in November 2011.  Rosie & Nick live in New York and it wasn’t until a few days before the wedding date that it was only the second time we would meet throughout the whole planning of their wedding.  Most of our communication was via email.  For a Bride & Groom to put their trust in your hands to provide their beautiful wedding day flowers without more than one face to face meeting is such a privilege.

Rosemary knew exactly what she wanted and had her vision in her mind.  It was down to me and my team to create that vision.  We worked with tones of pinks, green and ivory using seasonal flowers including  Hydrangea, David Austin Roses, traditional Sweet Avalanche Roses,  Sweet Pea and Dahlia as well as working with Rosemary herb to complement the Brides name.  The flower designs were set in vintage cut glass vases which really set the flowers off.  We also used Gypsophelia for the church flowers which were then moved to the marquee.

The reception marquee was set adjacent to the beautiful and romantic Paris House – Set in 22 acres of deer park within the historic Woburn Estate.  The Bride and Groom rallied friends and family to help attach to the ceiling an abundance of pastel coloured lanterns.

It was a great pleasure to provide all the floral displays and am thrilled to be able to share a few of the beautiful story telling images captured by the amazing Angela Ward-Brown  - www.angelawardbrown.com  They speak volumes and would highly recommend her to any bride to be x

Minolee & Pritesh, Wrest Park, 28th April 2012

I first met with Minolee and Pritesh back in November 2011 where they travelled from London to come and discuss their wedding flower requirements for their 2012 Spring wedding at the amazing Wrest Park, Silsoe in Bedfordshire.

As an approved supplier for English Heritage I’m always so happy to hear from brides who have chosen Wrest Park as their stunning venue for their magical day.  Not only because of the beautiful architecture and grounds but because every wedding we are involved with, is always so different from one another.  I was excited to hear all about Minolees’ ideas as we had mainly communicated through email beforehand.

Minolee and Pritesh knew exactly what they wanted to achieve – simplicity and elegance but romantic and soft.  They both wanted to work with neutral tones of whites and greens, and with Minolees love for Hydrangea, Peony and Orchids I knew it was going to be stylish too!  Clean lines were to dictate as well as Minolee wanting to introduce ‘blue’ to her reception flowers.  After gaining inspiration from her Bridesmaids gowns who were all wearing blue sari’s Minolee and Pritesh agreed to bring the colour in amongst her table flowers of which you will see below.

Minolee held a gorgeous hand-tied bouquet of green hydrangea, white peony and green cymbidium orchid heads.  Simply gorgeous.  It was exactly what Minolee had wanted and her bridesmaids flowers were set in just green hydrangea and cymbidium orchids that worked beautifully against the soft blue sari’s.

A romantic service was held at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Woburn on a wet, yet warm Spring afternoon.  We provided two stunning alter displays set in white grecian urns filled with hydrangea, avalanche roses, stocks, cymbidium orchids, lisianthus and rananculas with soft foliages to complement.  Not only were these used at the ceremony but we were also waiting on standby to run in after the service, carefully load them back in to our vehicle and try to beat the new Bride & Groom back to the venue – we did it !

As it had been raining, all the guests were being lovingly entertained with drinks and canapes in The Mansion House.  The Wild Orchid team were carefully placing the urns in place as well as going over final touches to the reception flowers which was being held in The Orangery.

With twelve tables to decorate, Minolee and Pritesh originally wanted a 50/50 balance of tall and low designs.  After creating their mock up at our shop, Minolee felt having more tall designs would work better with the amount of height and space.  The tall designs were where we also added the blue tones within the white and green.  So, we created 8 tall designs and 4 low designs which worked perfectly.  Our tall vases spoke volumes with rose heads set within the vases and a gorgeous design of hydrangea, orchid, peony, roses, lisianthus and stock with asparagus fern and eucalyptus.  The smell was divine!  On the lower table designs we created three different height cylinder vase displays using orchids, roses and hydrangea.  Simply stunning, and with the urns in place it was so beautiful to see.  The gorgeousness of the whole scene proved what a delight it was to be part of and as we were leaving the sun started to shine through.

Thank you so much Minolee and Pritesh for letting us create your beautiful flowers for such a memorable day.
